Dranske/Ruegen, September 16th 2004. The second day of the Formula Windsurfing Youth & Master World Championships 2004 brough optimal conditions for the participants of the Worlds. Again the weather was perfect with blue sky and bright sunshine. After the storm of the day before which brought the competitors to their limit with up to over 30 knots, Dranske presented itself with perfect formula conditions on Thursday. With 12 to 24 knots the numerous spectators could follow the maximum possible number of 11 races for the three fleets. The 98 competitors from 13 different countries were excited about the venue and the excellent conditions on Ruegen island.In the Youth Fleet the fight got tougher on the second day. The strong-wind-expert Florent Renard (FRA-539) from France who was able to win all the races on the opening day had to be satisfied with second and third places today. But his French team mate and hardest opponent Julien Quentel (FRA-421) was able to score two victories. Further victories went to Markus Bouman (NED-666) from the Netherlands and Lukasz Konieczny (POL-320) from Poland. After seven races each racer can discard his worst two results. So Florent Renard can defend his lead with 6,1 points and is favourite for the official ISAF title Formula Windsurfing Youth World Champion 2004. On the second place follows Julien Quentel with 10,4 points only short in front of Markus Bouman with 11,7 points.In the Junior Fleet Dorian van Rijsselberghe (NED-82) from the Netherlands completely dominates his opponents. He has won all the races so far and lead with the optimum of 3,5 points. On the second place follows Maciej Rutkowski (POL-232) from Poland. The third place is conquered by Yannick Oelke (GER-180) from Germany.In the Senior Fleet the German Racers continue their domination. The German record champion Bernd Flessner (GER-16) dominated the second day of the Worlds and won all four races. He took the lead in the Senior Fleet with the optimum of 3,5 points. With a huge distance follows Thade Behrends (GER-94) with 14,7 Punkten. Close behind on the second place follows Denis Standhardt (GER-189) with 15,0 points. In the Senior Fleet the Masters are fighting for the official IFWC title Formula Windsurfing Master Champion 2004. Klaus Sausen (GER-35) has the best Chances to win this title. With 22,7 points he is currently on place six and best Master.For the next days again perfect wind conditions and World Championship weather are predicted fort he region Rügen. Every day a maximum of 4 races can be sailed per fleet. The maximum of races is limited to 15. Besides the competition the windsurfers, trainers, organizers, sponsors and spectators are looking forward to the great Surferparties on Fryday and Saturday.For Friday the Skippers Meeting is set for 10:00 with the first possible start at 11:00. The Formula Windsurfing Youth & Master World Championships 2004 continue until Sunday, September 19th 2004. Then the new World Champions will be crowned at the prize giving.from Windsurfing Office
